Between 1880-1910 Mexico was governed by Porfirio Diaz, a powerful figure that came out of several decades of internal turmoil after Mexican independence.
Porfirio Diaz was seen as the major catalyst of Mexican peace and modernization in the 19th century, but he was also famous as an authoritarian ruler with a heavy-handed law enforcement. The modernization of the country mainly benefited the Mexican upper classes while most of Mexico's citizens found themselves disfranchised and destitute.
Suddenly, the soft murmur of protest began to be heard in the general population, gathering resources and waiting for the right time to spark the Mexican Revolution.
In Tierra y Liberatd, you represent one of the five factions that participated in the initial stages of the Mexican Revolution
Players need to work together in order to challenge Porfirio's power and muster enough resources to be able to topple the government and rewrite the Mexican Constitution in 1917, and win the game.
Throughout the game, players need to move their operatives across Mexico arming the rebels, championing revolutionary ideas and gathering political power. However, Porfirio counter revolutionary forces. and Huerta's army later in the game. will do their best to stop your progress.
Each passing period, players would need to gather enough support to keep the revolutionary spirit alive or lose their overall support, thus ending the game in a loss.
